A native of Birmingham, Alabama for most of his life, Dr. Mehra received his medical degree from the University of Alabama School of Medicine where he was elected into the Alpha Omega Alpha honor society. He then completed his internship and residency in Internal medicine at Washington University in St. Louis. He subsequently completed his training in Gastroenterology at Washington University in St. Louis, and received post-fellowship procedural training in ERCP with Dr Giuseppe Aliperti. He joined Southeast Gastro in 2016 after having been in practice for 10 years prior.

Dr. Mehra maintains a practice in general gastroenterology with a keen interest in pancreatic and biliary diseases as well as diseases of the gallbladder. He performs therapeutic biliary endoscopy, pancreatic ERCP and cholangioscopy. He welcomes second opinion cases also.

In 2015 Dr Mehra founded IllumiCare, the first healthcare information technology platform to bring cost and risk data over any electronic record. His company won the Alabama Corporate Innovator of the year award in 2016. IllumiCare then won the 2016 American Hospital Association Innovation Award.
