Dr. Malik completed his residency in Internal Medicine and Fellowship in Gastroenterology and Hepatology at Cook County Hospital in Chicago, IL, where he won awards as the best intern and resident. After a brief tenure as a teacher, he moved to Birmingham, AL and joined Dr. Subhash Bajaj in practice in 1993. He joined Southeast Gastro in 2016.
Dr. Malik has extensive experience and training in all facets of gastroenterology and liver diseases, with special emphasis on advanced gastroenterological procedures including colonoscopies, endoscopies, and capsule endoscopies. Besides interest in general gastroenterology and pancreatic biliary diseases, he has special interest in inflammatory bowel diseases and cancer prevention.
Dr. Malik believes in a “patient-comes-first” approach. He wants his patients to be well-informed in order to build a relationship that they can depend on. His practice is focused around patient well-being and happiness. He seeks to play an integral role in the management of his patients and tries to provide the necessary support and guidance for their healing. “I treat and the almighty heals,” as he says in his own words.
